Texas Impact Enterprise Awards Process
STEP 1. Ecosystem Partners are invited by the Hunter & Stephanie Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity
Ecosystem Partners are themselves impact enterprises that play an instrumental role as leaders in their respective ecosystems. Ecosystem Partners can nominate others to be invited as additional Ecosystem Partners. See the Ecosystem Partners HERE.
STEP 2. Ecosystem Partners nominate up to 10 Impact Enterprises for the award
The term Impact Enterprise captures a multitude of organizations, from social enterprises to small businesses, corporations, nonprofits, and even government entities, that strategically utilize business strategies and leverage market forces to create positive environmental or societal impact aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Ecosystem Partners can also be nominated by other Ecosystem Partners to receive the award.
STEP 3. Nominees are contacted to fill out an online form
Based on the submitted form they are immediately recognized as Impact Enterprises on the ImpactMap.
STEP 4. Evaluation of nominated impact enterprises
Each nominee is to be evaluated by 3 Ecosystem Partners. The algorithm ensures that the evaluator is allocated nominees that it did not nominate, nor include the organization itself (in case the Ecosystem Partner was nominated for the award.). Each Ecosystem Partner evaluates the assigned nominees based on a uniform judging criterion.
STEP 5. Ranking of the nominees and determination of the award recipients
The evaluation scores from Step 4 get aggregated to determine the ranking of nominees. Nominees will be ranked based on their total score (innovation + impact + scalability). In case the aggregate scores are tied, the nominees’ “top 3” scores will be taken into account to determine the final ranking.
STEP 6. Determination of the Award recipients
Based on the ranking in Step 5, the top 25 impact enterprises will receive the Texas Impact Enterprise Awards at a ceremony on May 17 on SMU’s campus.

Innovation
How innovative or high-priority is the solution/product/business model for sustainability in Texas? Are you aware of any similar product/service/business model?
Impact
How important are the benefits of this entity for Texas when it comes to climate-smart inclusive economic development for
Climate mitigation and/or adaptation and environmental benefits?
Economic and/or social inclusion benefits?
Scalability
How scalable and/or replicable is this impact enterprise's work in terms of demonstrated increase in impact over the past year?
How scalable and/or replicable is this impact enterprise's work in terms of a likely increase in impact over the next 3 years? In particular, taking into consideration strategic utilization of technology and data to support scaling reach and impact?
