The Impact Enterprise Awards shine a spotlight on the heart of social and environmental impact leaders in Texas. With a mission to celebrate and honor the tireless efforts of trailblazing organizations, we recognize those who prove that business can be a force for good. Join us in celebrating excellence in creating lasting, meaningful change across the Lone Star State.
The Inclusive Economy Consortium (IEC), Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity, and their partners are launching the Texas Impact Enterprise Awards to recognize the progress that entities across sectors are making toward climate-smart inclusive economic development. Using a decentralized and transparent process, Ecosystem Partners nominate and select impact enterprises with the greatest potential for scaled impact. Awardees will be announced in April 2024 at a celebratory event.
The term "Impact Enterprise" captures a multitude of organizations, from social enterprises to small businesses, corporations, nonprofits, and even government entities, that strategically utilize business strategies and leverage market forces to create positive environmental or societal impact aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The design of the award is grounded in international best practices and experiences as well as ongoing research in impact unicorns. The process follows a networked and decentralized scoring approach to both nominations and evaluations that taps into the collective intelligence of Ecosystem Partners and minimizes biases.
There will be no "winners" or "losers." All nominated impact enterprises will be displayed on the ImpactMap. Those with the highest aggregate scores will be recognized with the Impact Enterprise Award.
The Global Advisory Council represents technical partners from around the world who bring a wealth of expertise and experience with impact awards and impact unicorns. The Global Advisory Council designed the Impact Enterprise Awards with input from key stakeholders and oversees its implementation.
Ecosystem Partners are themselves impact enterprises that play an instrumental role as leaders or conveners in their respective sub-ecosystems and thus have valuable insights to contribute.
Ecosystem Partners nominate impact enterprises based on their potential to become impact unicorns. This is based on an enterprise's:
Ecosystem Partners have deep familiarity with Texas impact enterprises in their field of work and possess insights into their potential to achieve unicorn impact. Each Partner can nominate 10 impact enterprises for the award and evaluate a random set of nominees that they did not nominate. Ecosystem Partners are also eligible to be nominated for the award, but they cannot self-nominate nor evaluate their own nomination.
All nominated Impact Enterprises will be displayed on the ImpactMap.
